The following are the Rules and RegulationsGoverning Standard High School Zzana. All students are expected to read, understand and obey, in case you don’t understand any single word, phrase or statement, please refer to the office of the administration for proper interpretation.
If you are caught breaking any of the rules and regulations, the school reserves authority to give you an indefinite suspension.
NOTE: These Rules and Regulations apply to all students irrespective of class or students undergoing UNEB exams
- GENERAL
(a) You are expected to know and observe these Rules and Regulations as well as any other directions and guidelines that may be issued from time to time.
(b) If you break any of these Rules and Regulations, you will be suspended, dismissed or even sued in courts of law.
(c) Every student is expected to behave in a proper and becoming manner towards him or herself and other people.
- DISCIPLINE
(a) It is the duty of every student to obey all the teaching staff, and student leaders, violation of this rule will lead to suspension from school.
(b) Ear rings, lip-sticks, hair plaiting, long hair, perming, nail colouring and French hair-cuts
(c) No boarding student shall sleep out of the school without permission from the Headteacher.
(d) Permission required for more than 12 hours shall be obtained from the Headteacher or his Deputy.
(e) No noise from any source e.g., music, drums, whistles etc., shall be made which shall interfere with the sleep, study or other members of the school and / or the public.
(f) You must disassociate yourself from many form of bad habit and endeavour to expose all those bad elements among your fellow students. You should not condone, convene at, aid or abet acts of indiscipline within or outside the school.
(g) Teasing of any kind whether through fighting, abusing or bullying other students, is prohibited and shall lead to suspension.
(h) Any student guilty of theft shall be suspended instantly.
(i) Smoking of any kind as well as taking or keeping intoxicants is a major offence and shall lead to suspension.
(j) Any student who takes a French leave (escapes from school) shall face disciplinary action i.e., suspension.
(k) Mobile phones are strictly prohibited from school. Violation of this rule will lead to suspension from school.
(l) The following are not accepted in school: radios, water heaters CD players, clothes other than those specified as school uniform.
- VISITORS
(a) Boarders shall have their visitation once in a term, which shall always be communicated, in End of Term Circulars.
(b) All visitors shall first identify themselves to the Gatekeeper on duty and shall sign in the Visitor’s book, then report to the Deputy Headteacher or Director of Studies (DOS) office before getting into contact with the student. A Visitor’s Card is to be presented at the gate during visitations.
(c) No visitor shall be allowed in the dormitory, violation of this shall lead to a two weeks suspension of the concerned student.
(d) Visitors shall leave the school before 6.00 p.m. He/she shall not be escorted beyond the school gate.
(e) No student shall receive a visitor on any day other than a Visiting Sunday unless permission has been granted by relevant authorities. Those students who call home to be visited, their visitors will not be allowed to enter the school.
- CLEANLINESS
(a) Every student shall dress in a neat and full school uniform. Those found without proper uniform shall be sent back home.
(b) Every student must participate in general cleaning i.e., dormitory, classroom, and any other place within the school.
- 5. academic work
(a) You are expected to maintain and enhance academic excellence for which you are admitted to this school. A student’s stay shall entirely depend on his/her performance and discipline. You must have sufficient stationary as well as prescribed textbooks for your subject combination.
(b) A student shall be allowed to borrow some textbooks from the school library on presentation of a valid school identity card. Delay to return the book shall lead to a fine of 5,000/=.
(c) Regular attendance of classes, test, exams and practical is compulsory. Failure to do it shall lead to a suspension.
(d) Night preps are compulsory to all boarders and shall run from 7.30 p.m.-10.00 p.m. Boys and girls shall have their night preps from separate rooms unless there is a class going on.
- FOOD
(a) All students are expected to eat what is offered for the meal of the day.
(b) Students are not allowed to cook for themselves at school.
(c) No parent is allowed to bring cooked food to the school.
- PREGANCY
(a) Pregnant girls are not expected in school.
(b) Girl-boy relationship associated with immortality is highly punishable by suspension.
- SOCIAL FUNCTIONS
(a) All dances or other similar functions held in the school on any day of the week shall not go beyond 6.00 p.m. This shall also apply to those carried from outside the school
premises.
(b) The organizers of such functions shall always get permission from the Headteacher.
(c) Any form of indiscipline during such functions shall not be tolerated and shall call for disciplinary action.
- PLACE OUT OF BOUNDS
(a) During class time all dormitories as well as the SCHOOL CANTEEN are out of bounds.
Anybody found in the dormitory or canteen during school hours without permission shall be suspended.
(b) The permission for Medical treatment in the school clinic shall be obtained from the Headteacher.
